Art Analysis

I have chosen Jhonen Vasquez to analyze, the image above is "Gir" from a Short-lived yet popular series "Invader Zim". The art work itself is bright and distorted, with minimal shading, the coloring is mainly solid and untextured like most of Jhonen's work. The artist uses mainly solid lines, but with an angle that makes them almost 3-d. A better example of his style is this-------------------------------------------
You can see his distorted and yet detailed style of work, and see how he makes his foreground blend with the background. His scaling is interesting...to say the least, I chose this image because you can compare the characters to the "Skool" as you can see the secret agent ( left to the kid) would be at least 7ft high if he were not on those stairs, it's not that the characters are large; the buildings are just small. The lighting is consistent on the environment, but if you look closely the shading on the characters is near non-existent. I even attempted my own characters in hsi style, so if you want to see that just go to my blog.
